The Leopard

38 Cameron Gallery, Cambridge MA

I had the opportunity to make an installation along a 19’ gallery wall, but with the stipulation that the piece could not rest on the floor, had to be above head height, and couldn’t extend into the space more than 4’. I thought of the idea of a jungle canopy. and made the leopard out of rebar, with hints of branches surrounding and supported it; we attached it to the rafters. Washers welded to the surface indicate the spotted, camouflaging pattern of the leopard.
